Reaching the Chinese in . . . South America?
During the East Asia Summit in April 2009 at Collierville First Baptist Church, churches made connections with International Board Missionaries to understand how they could serve in various parts of the world to reach Chinese, Japanese, and Korean people. A connection was made between CFBC and a Strategy Coordinator who is responsible for reaching the Chinese in Central and South America. This exchange led to two people from CFBC and another from Christ Community Baptist Church, to go to Ecuador to share the good news of Jesus.
You might ask why you would go to another country to reach a people group that is not indigenous to that country. The answer has to do with the receptivity of the people when they are away from their native land. When non-believers are away from their families and the support systems that reinforce their belief system, they are more receptive to hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ. They are more willing to ask questions and spend time listening to what Christian have to say.
Randy Daniels and Sam Nichols from CFBC and Kenny Svetzo from Christ Community went to Ecuador for one week to train a local Chinese church on evangelism, worship, prayer, and other core issues. They also spent time each morning and evening sharing the gospel at businesses in the morning and homes in the evening. Individuals came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and a local church was strengthened.
In November 2011, a trip is being planned to Taiwan. The purpose of the trip is to go into schools and teach about the American Thanksgiving Holiday and use it as a platform to share about Christ. Please pray about your involvement in this trip.
