James 1:27 In the Flesh
Lois Johnston has been volunteering at the
TBCH Boys Ranch for 15 years. She began involving others such as the Baptist
Women and her Sunday School Class.
The class now looks forward to an annual cook out at the Boys Ranch and
quite frequently asks if the boys need anything. Lois has seen how
this has broadened the class’ participation in other mission action activities.
This simple act of love leads the boys to ask "Why do these people
who do not even know me care what I need?" House parents and staff
can then share the gospel with them.
Lois adds that she has to prepare herself to
go there because it breaks her heart that these boys are not in a
loving, caring home with parents. “I know that they receive love and guidance
from the house parents and staff, who are definitely called to this ministry. I am sure they are better off at the ranch. I see improvement
in attitudes and outlook on life. Some spend as much as 5 years. I am glad
to help in a small way to get them on the right track and know that they have
had the opportunity to know the Lord and his plans for them. To see smiles on
the boy’s faces is a blessing. I treasure each thank you note the
boys write me.”
